The Couple
Grace and Kieran came to me through Grace’s mum, Jeanette, who wanted to help them with the flowers for their wedding day. She had been given my name by her hairdresser, Kody from ABYSS, and after looking through my work on Instagram, reached out. I loved working with Jeanette, Grace and Kieran throughout the planning. They are the most beautiful family and, by the time the wedding arrived, I genuinely felt like I was part of something special.
The Vision
The brief was light yellow, soft green and white—fresh, relaxed and perfect for spring. Grace wasn’t fixed on particular flowers, which gave me room to work with the season and create something that suited both venues. At The Green Cathedral, the flowers needed to complement the paperbark trees and Wallis Lake without taking away from the setting. The same palette then continued into the Palm Pavilion for the reception.
In Bloom
The flower recipe included lisianthus, David Austin and spray roses, delphinium, dahlias, scabiosa, Queen Anne’s lace, matricaria and yellow billy buttons. Italian ruscus and variegated pittosporum added soft, natural greenery. Together, they created the sunniest palette—full of buttery yellow, crisp white and fresh green.
The flowers appeared throughout the day in Grace’s bouquet, two bridesmaids’ bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, three large ceremony arrangements, forty bud vases, the bridal table and cake table arrangements, and a fresh floral spray for the cake.
The Day
It was a windy day along the coast, but The Green Cathedral felt like its own little hidden sanctuary. The sun was shining, the water was calm and the flowers sat beautifully among the trees. Grace and Kieran were framed by the large plinth arrangements during the ceremony, before the flowers were moved to the Palm Pavilion and enjoyed again at the reception. Everything just worked.
The Moment
I was lucky enough to take my own mum with me for this wedding. We stayed at the Lizzie Beach Shack the night before and the night after, using it as our little flower base and sleeping whenever we could. Having her there to help and keep me company made the whole trip even more enjoyable.
At the end of the reception, we wrapped the flowers into small bouquets for guests to take home. It was such a lovely way to finish the day—seeing the flowers leave in people’s arms instead of being left behind.
